Is Manifestation Useless?

Or is it an ingredient for success?

Welcome To The Community

Together, we’ll dive deep and find the strength to never give up because Great Things Take Time.

Where does manifestation have a role in your goals?

If I bring up manifestation, you’re likely going to have a strong opinion. You either believe there is a place for it when trying to reach your goals, or you think I’m full of b.s. There is usually no in-between.

While I am FAR from an expert, and like everything out there, there are many views and schools of thought with manifestation, I wanted to share with you how I incorporate manifestation into my goal-setting and daily life.

If you were forwarded this email, you can subscribe and join the Great Things Take Time Community to get content from me every Monday.

The three opinions of manifestation: Surprised, disgusted, and excited.

Here's what's in today's email

Is Manifestation Useless?

The conversation around manifesting took off last week when I shared a story with The Collective about a gentleman I had met several years ago during a time of internal conflict. I wanted something more from my life but was stuck and didn’t know how to get it. Along came a stranger who gave me a blueprint for my life and how to live my life to achieve the things I wanted the most.

This man literally dropped in from nowhere, and I first reacted like many of you might when someone tries to tell you how to live your life.

“You don’t know me. You can’t understand me. You don’t get what I’ve been through. You don’t know what I’m looking for.”

However, a small part of me registered with what this gentleman shared and took it to heart. I incorporated a few small things into my life, and the next thing I knew, things were falling into place. I then found myself on a path that introduced me to many of you.

I don’t think that this was a coincidence, but I also don’t believe this man gave me the magic formula and that because of him I was able to get where I wanted to go in life. However, I have learned that doors start opening when, along with hard work, I start putting out into the world what I want in life.

As I said on Wednesday, whether you are religious, believe in the power of the universe, or think that your subconscious gives you powerful signals, there is significance and importance in the things that stand out to you. There is also significance and importance in what you focus on and put into the world.

Be careful what you focus your thoughts and energy on.

Typically, when people manifest, it means they are concentrating on something they want. Whether meditating, journaling, creating a mood board, or something else, it occupies space in their mind. They then go about their day with their mind fresh on what they want to bring into their life.

Like so much in life, when you’re clear about what you want, there is no diversion with energy, it’s full steam ahead in the direction you want.

A Way To Get Unstuck

For those who feel stuck, manifestation can also be a form of comfort and letting go when things aren’t going how you hoped. A reminder that as you continue to work hard, you’re moving forward. Are you on the right path? Is there something you’re missing? Manifesting may help remove the blocks in your path when something presents itself to motivate or point you in a new direction.

On the opposite side of things, the enemy of manifestation is negative thought patterns. It’s a sure fire way to block any progress you might have.

“I can’t do this.”

“I’ll never be good enough.”

“I don’t deserve that.”

One might consider those thoughts to be a form of manifestation, just not in the direction many of us want.  I’m sure you know what I like to say about negativity…But if you refuse to dwell on these negative thoughts, you’ll find yourself standing up taller, projecting confidence in new situations, and opening yourself up to new experiences. You never know who you’ll start a conversation with and where that conversation will lead you.

You’ve Got Time For This

Putting your goals, hopes, and desires into the world through manifestation isn’t a frivolous thing to do; it’s a way to invite energy into your space to make connections. Simple statements are planted like seeds that grow and weave into complex vines, forming new pathways you never could have imagined before.

When you put things out there, you start making subconscious signals to the world around you that you are interested in. Manifest with caution. What your mind creates, your body and world will soon follow.

So think real hard? What exactly is there that you want? And what hard work are you willing to put in to complement your mental work?

Moments with Maurice

If you only pause to reflect on your life for one moment today, do it now.

Things are happening to us all the time that we don’t understand. There are tragedies, celebrations, successes, and loss. Some make complete sense, we know why we are going through it. Others just feel like a cruel joke someone is playing on us. Sometimes, we feel so lucky it doesn’t seem like it can happen.

This can’t be real!

When we get out of our own minds and start looking at what’s being put in front of us, we might be surprised to learn we’re heading in the right direction- just one we might not have even considered.

Reflection: Center yourself before beginning; you need a clear mind.

Think about what keeps occurring in your life. Is it a theme, a person, a number, a Bible verse, or a comment? Whatever they are, start to jot them down and see if a pattern forms.

Whether or not a pattern or message is present, keep this somewhere near, continue to add to it, and look back on it. You never know when something will appear to you. Pay close attention to that bodily sensation like a stomach drop when you realize you’ve been skipping over something.

Prompt: What do you think these signs/communications are pushing you in the direction of?

Romans 8:28 is a verse I learned as a young teen. My mom had called my church camp earlier in the day to let them know my grandfather had passed. The counselors who had known me since I was probably 6-8 YO were all prepped for me to find out. & when I did they handed me that verse. I lost it. At the time it felt hard to understand, but over the years I’ve felt god lead me through things with it.

At the age of 19 having a craniotomy I couldn’t understand… why me? But I prayed on it and felt peace. Leaning into this verse. I was 24 when my husband wanted to leave his past company. I said “ANYWHERE IN INDIANA.”, to cut to the chase on this part… we now live in Minnesota. OOPS. But at the time I was so angry and frustrated. Again I started praying on this. On the side of a cliff In Colorado, after a week with no cell service his phone rang. His current company called to tell him they wanted him. Through some of the scariest things I’ve walked through in the past few years, Leaning into prayer has calmed me and also reminded me I never walk alone. That verse above paired with 1 Philippians 4:13 are how I show up on my hardest days.

Collective Member Highlight

Great Things Take Time, but Great People help you make it happen

A wonderful idea from one of our Collective members is now coming to fruition to highlight people in the community. As this idea came from Heather, it only made sense for her to be the first person highlighted. The world is made of connections and community and you never know who is going to inspire something in you.

Name: Heather

Location: Seattle, WA and am on PST AKA Thunder 45 is @ 4:30AM for me. 🥴

Hobbies/interests: In no particular order… skiing, working out, organizing anything, fashion, style, art, eating, baking on the rare occasion, spending time w/friends, family, our nephews, watching tv & movies, watching all NFL games, reading, going out for Happy Hour and playing w/our dog & cat. I’m sure there’s more, but those are top of mind.

A Great Thing you are most proud of achieving: One that comes to mind is taking a chance on myself, to reach new fitness goals. I joined Peloton in 2022 because I was bored w/my workouts, I wanted to challenge myself and needed to get out of my plateau. It was an impulse decision made one day, w/the tread ordered the same day, but one I’m so grateful for. I never imagined it would lead to an entire community, change my body composition, I’d start loving to lift weights almost more than cardio and then it ultimately lead me to being part of the GTTT Collective. I wouldn’t be where I am today without that decision!

A Great Thing you are working on: I’m working on giving myself grace and not comparing myself to others. It’s definitely easier said than done, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit I can struggle w/this from time to time. I want to talk to myself the way I talk to those I care about and I want to see myself the way others see me. I think because I’m aware of this, it’s usually top of mind and something I’m self aware of.

Your “hot take”: I have a couple “hot takes.” The first is similar to Adrian’s, in that age is just a number. Being in my mid-late 40’s now just means I’ve had the privilege to live longer. It doesn’t mean I can’t wear crop tops or have to live my life a certain way because of my age.

The second actually comes from my Dad who always told us growing up “you run with dogs, you’re gonna get fleas.”Meaning you are the company that you keep and life is too short and precious to not be mindful of your circle, whether it’s friends, chosen family or blood family.  As I’ve gotten older, my circle has shifted and that’s okay. I’m exactly where I should be, w/exactly who I should be with.

What do you tell yourself when things get hard, you need to find motivation, or you’re feeling down?

Fun fact about me is that I can actually be a huge procrastinator, so I tend to do things right away to avoid that tendency. For example, I work out first thing in the morning before work. I know myself well enough to know I won’t do it after work, plus it feels so amazing to get it out of the way. I’m nicer @ work and feel amazing & accomplished throughout the day.

I’ll put laundry away right when I’m done folding it, I make the bed when I get up, etc. By doing things “right away” it gets them out of the way, so if I want to go out, I can, if I want to relax, I can. This way, I feel balanced. My mantra w/myself is “your future self will thank you,” so if I need to do something I don’t want to do, I tell myself my mantra, get it done and then feel like a bad ass because I’m now so accomplished!

If I’m feeling down, (which I have been lately due to being sick and foot & toe surgery), I say it out loud to someone else (my husband, the Discord group, etc.) and share my feelings. I haven’t always done this, but have learned that sharing all emotions, even bad ones, helps to expel them, speak to what I need to have a mind shift and know I’m not alone.

What’s Got Me Smilin’

Because no matter what, there is always something to smile about.

West Coast Family Chaos

Today I feel very fortunate for some overdue family time. Can you tell we’re all related with faces like these?

If you’ve made it this far, consider it a sign to reach out to someone you care about to tell them you love them. It doesn’t have to be family, many of us have complicated relationships with blood relatives, but then find a friend and remind them how much you care. Tomorrow is never promised,

The Other Little Man

I’ll leave you with Frankie’s oversight on my car stuff. What do we think he’s thinking? While he’s a dog, his little expressions and actions still make me smile.

See You Next Time
